CWG 2010: The world would remember us!!!

2 in the morning. As usual can't sleep. The duel between the pain in the chest and the thirst for nicotine is taking a toll. Switched on the TV hoping to be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Pamela Anderson running the famous run in some old episode of Baywatch (if Star Network played it by mistake).

I saw the run alright. The most interesting run, I will possibly see in my life. More captivating than even Pamela Anderson herself. The run of quality, the run of politics, the run of corruption. THE GRAND RUN OF INDIAN CWG!!!!

Even Pamela Anderson's second boob job would not have caused such stir in the entertainment world. TV channels on TV channels are covering the hiccups, showing the same pictures, reporting the same stories. In all this two words remained 'Games' and 'Shame'. Not that I care a lot but Sheila Dixit's statement has troubled me a lot. I am actually disturbed. While expressing her justified anger towards media she said something. "These things happen when such a huge project is undertaken. Media is concentrating only on the negative parts and making a hill out of a mole. Why don't you see the greenery, the roads etc etc."

This is our standard? We expect these things to happen? We don't believe that anything can be done first time right? We expect the world to understand that our ceilings and foot over bridges keep falling?

Sad part is that it came from a leader. A leader who is responsible to lead this country into the future.

I am sorry!!! This is not my standard. This is not the standard of Indians. My head hangs in shame.

This country was ravished, looted, ruled but in 50 years of our freedom, still we are the most promising economies. There are loads of statistics which I can incorporate to justify my statements but I will be missing the point (also making the blog boring). We have missed a golden opportunity to showcase our beautiful country to the world. Our abilities, our talents will always carry a question mark.

In the present circumstances I can't convince a foreigner that this country is much much more than lousy engineering, corruption and security glitches. Pamela Anderson is more than just boobs but she will be always remembered for it.

I can't write anymore. I despise it but I have started to loose hope. Never ever in my life I have lost hope. Hope fives me strength and faith. Today, Mr. Kalmadi and co. have even taken that away from me. No let me correct myself. You all reading this post and keeping mum about it have taken it away from me. How can we allow anyone to call our country filthy? How can we live knowing that we cant make our guests feel safe?

I demand my country back. A country where guests were treated as gods (Athithi Devo Bhava!!!) A country which was looked upon with respect and admiration. Please give my country back. Please give me my hope to see this country on top back to me.
