Milestone on milestone

Milestone on milestone,
I kept travelling,
Numerous faces haunt me,
Yet the destination seems farther and farther.

Each milestone seemed like an end,
Yet every milestone embarked a new journey
A Journey to unknown,
Hoping next milestone would be the last.

I see carcasses of unfinished journeys,
Footprints of many who travelled this path,
Yet i keep on walking
Walking in a hope to know my destination.

The sun made me thirsty,
Yet few offered me water,
My legs wobbled and bled,
Yet few offered me a lift.

New faces came to my life,
They loved, they pampered,
Yet i have to leave them with a promise,
As another milestone seemed an aswer to my questions

Milestone on milestone will pass
I will still be walking
Leaving my footprints
For others to follow.
